Set in feudal Japan and based on the Siege of Oshi, the story depicts with humor the struggle of Oshi's villagers in defending their fortress against warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi's campaign against the Hojo clan. Against insurmountable odds, the fortress’ commander Narita Nagachika, leads a group of 500 men against 20,000 enemy troops.
