A heavy downpour strands a generous ronin and his supportive wife at a country inn. A masterless samurai and great swordsman, the ronin comes quickly to the attention of a lord, who hires him as a fencing instructor for his samurai after an impressive demonstration at his castle. But they treat the ronin with disrespect because of envy and jealousy.
