11-year-old Wang and his family live in a poor, remote village in China. When Wang is chosen to lead his school's daily gymnastics, his teacher requests that he wear a new shirt, forcing his family to make a great sacrifice. Soon afterwards, Wang encounters a wounded man on the run and their fates are intertwined.
