Like many Filipino women, Terry has come to Singapore in search of a better life as a maid. Her presence worsens the already strained relationships of the Lim family. She and Jiale, the young and troublesome son, form a unique bond. This is 1997, and the Asian Financial Crisis is beginning to be felt.
