New York Times journalist Sydney Schanberg is covering the civil war in Cambodia with the help of local journalist Dith Pran. As the communist Khmer Rouge close in on the capital Phnomh Penh and American forces evacuate, Pran sends off his family to safety, but stays behind, risking his life, to help Schanberg cover the end of the conflict.
