Young and incompetent director Koichi and his crew travel to the mountain village of Yamamura to shoot his zombie movie. To help make the picture, villagers are enlisted to help and also play extras. A grumpy 60-year-old lumberjack named Katsuhiko is also drafted, but only against his will.
