Based on an autobiographic novel, a young man from Beijing is sent to teach the nomadic herdsmen of Inner Mongolia. It is he who learns about shepherds and the bond they share with the wolves. It is a bond he understands after adopting an orphaned wolf cub, and it will be threatened by a government bureaucrat.
