Toshio, his wife Akie, and their daughter Hotaru live an ordinary existence. Toshio operates a machine shop in his garage when his old acquaintance Yasaka arrives after being released from prison. Toshio gives Yasaka a job, room, and board. Yasaka is helpful, but eventually reveals he was convicted of a murder, and Toshio was involved in the crime.
