Sister and brother, Yu-mei and Yu-nan, were born on an isolated island. They grew up listening to stories about a mermaid told by their late mother, who left her husband and son for another man, taking Yu-mei with her to Taipei. Now grown up and a painter, Yu-mei is in a rocky relationship when she reunites with her brother.
