After defeating the Tiktiks during the previous night in the town of Pulupandan, Makoy, his wife Sonia, their baby son Mackie, Sonia's father Nestor, and neighbor Pacing flee by taking the first bus trip to the next town. However, their bus is ambushed by Kubots, hairy bat-like creatures that are related to the aswang.
